Become A Driving Instructor

How do I qualify?
As you would expect, the Driving Standard Agency have some basic criteria before you can register to be an instructor.
1. Have you held a full UK or EU license for 4 out of the last 6 years?
2. Can you read a normal size number plate from 27.5 meters (90 ft)?
3. Have you less than 6 penalty points on your license
4. Are you free from any serious offence committed in the last 10 years?
5 Complete a theory test, the test consists of 100 questions divided into 4 categories; you must gain a minimum mark in each category as well as an overall pass mark of 85%. The test also includes a hazard perception element which is similar to the learner driver test although the pass mark is 57 out of 75.
6 Complete a test of driving ability, the driving test is one hour long and covers all types of road and traffic conditions. You’ll also be asked to carry out various manoeuvers along the way.
7 Complete a test of instructional ability, you will be asked to teach learners of varying ability in a role play situation.
The cost of training can be paid for on a pay as you go basis or paid up front, prices are available on request.
